The Patient Logistics Coordinator oversees patient bed assignments upon admission and transfer and relays assignments for float pool staff according to need and set criteria ensuring timely flow and provision of services.

• Oversees the movement of patients from the different hospital departments (ECC, OR, ICU, etc.) and direct admissions to ensure that the goal of an efficient and seamless entry into the facility occurs.
• Makes bed assignments based on diagnosis, age, gender, and bed availability taking into consideration the unit activities and census.
• Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with nursing and ancillary staff, physicians and administration to assure appropriate and timely flow of information required to support Customer Relations initiatives
• Prioritizes and utilizes the chain of command for clinical and other situations that are beyond the scope of the Patient Logistic Coordinator in order to support flow and the safety of patient placement.
• Assists with the daily, weekly and monthly float pool staffing schedules for all float pool employees as directed.
• Directs staff (RNs, PCTs & PSOs) to inpatient units as assigned in an effort to coordinate bed capacity needs, with clinical staffing and patient care needs.
• Attends and participates in other programs, committees, meetings, and functions required by the hospital or the pharmacy.
• Assist in developing and maintaining data and reports related to patient logistics.
• All other duties as assigned by department.
