Position Summary
Limited semi-skilled manual work in the performance of laboring tasks and a variety of construction and maintenance work.
Essential Functions
  • Clears trees, brush and vegetation from parks.
  • Loads and unloads heavy material from trucks. Moves equipment and large bulky objects. Performs custodial duties.
  • Maintains grounds. Rakes grass and waters plants. Weeds flower beds. Shapes hedges and trims trees. Cuts grass. Plants and fertilizes flowers. May operate tractor-mower in mowing grass on temporary or training basis.
  • Loads trash on truck. Unloads trash and other material. Picks up boxes and other materials left by residents.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • During emergencies, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess 1-year experience in performing manual labor.
  • Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of tools used in maintenance and construction work.
  • Ability to learn methods of maintaining equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards connected with laboring work safety.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Physical Requirements
Physical Demand: Moderate
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to do heavy manual labor.
  • Acceptable eyesight with or without correction.
  • Acceptable hearing with or without correction.
  • Walking, standing, kneeling, bending, pulling, stooping and driving.
  • Some heavy lifting over 50 lbs.
