Daily Keys for Success

Prior to Crew Arrival: Review any last-minute needs or issues with sales. Prepare any paperwork, route sheets or instructions for the team. Modify schedule based on prior days’ production results or urgent client requests.

Equipment Check: Review with Crew Leader on inspection of truck & trailer for issues, taking equipment and tool inventory and if any issues. Coordinate with Mechanic to deal with any issues. Ensure that the crew has what they need to be successful.

Crew Leader meet: Meet with Crew Leaders to review the schedule, job tickets, and route sheet

Dispatch: Gate check for final safety inspection and check out – is their load secure, do they have all equipment/tools/materials they need for the day? All crews should be out of the gate within 15 minutes of clocking in.

Site Inspections: Visit daily with crews to assess jobsite or help resolve issues. When driving up on a jobsite look for the following:

  • Safety: Is truck and trailer parked safely? Are cones out? Are crew members wearing proper PPE? Are they using the equipment properly? Safely?
  • Quality and Productivity: How does the job look overall? Identify any quality issues, review how the crew is producing the work. Is the crew leader aware of what each of their team is doing? Are they being efficient? Are they using the right equipment for the job? Review current labor hour efficiency with crew leader and discuss any issues. Schedule time each week to actually work with the crews and demonstrate proper production techniques.
  • Leadership and Client Communication: Perform work while on site to demonstrate servant leadership. Engage the client onsite, engage them and listen to their concerns or potential issues. The PM should be in tune with the FSLM quality standards and is responsible for producing quality and working with the AM to confirm expectations. Remember that we are a team at FSLM, do not blame other members of the team for potential issues. Take accountability and offer solutions that will resolve them. Communicate client or property issues to sales immediately.

End of Day: Coordinate with Crew Leader on end of day routine - debris and trash removed from inside and outside of truck, fueling of vehicle and equipment, loading of material/equipment for next day (if applicable), clock out of crew members. Review with Crew Leader on scheduling issues, concerns, equipment needs and review of paper work for accuracy and discuss next day schedule. Communicate with sales on schedule and any changes or issues. Check all daily time reports and correct prior to submitting to payroll.
