Manufacturing Production Manager

Department: Operations
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

Status: Exempt (Salary Position)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manufacturing Production Manager to lead our meal production, packaging, and distribution operations. In this vital role, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing the supply chain and inventory, and ensuring high-quality production processes. Your goal will be to guarantee that our products meet the highest standards and are delivered efficiently to our customers as we continue to rapidly grow and expand our footprint as a business. Further, you will be expected to lead our team of managers and associates to success in their positions and to encourage professional development.
Above all, the successful Manufacturing Production Manager will have an agile, entrepreneurial spirit and roll-up-the-sleeves mentality, including willingness to find scrappy solutions, take calculated risks, and act with a sense of urgency.

Education & Experience

(REQUIRED) Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, engineering, food science, manufacturing, or a related field.
(REQUIRED) Minimum of 4 years experience in production management; food processing industry experience is a plus.
(REQUIRED) Strong organizational and leadership skills.
(PREFERRED) Knowledge of food safety and quality regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA).
(PREFERRED) Experience in successfully implementing 5S and Six Sigma philosophies.

Key Result Areas & Responsibilities

Oversee Operations in Alignment with the Disciplined Operations Framework

  • Ensure all operations are functioning within the defined operating envelope
  • Ensure all operations meet defined standards and all standard operating procedures are followed
  • Monitor, account for, and prevent loss to improve efficiency and maximize profit margin
  • Solve simple and complex operations problems with the proper sense of urgency, putting an emphasis on root cause corrective action
  • Seek opportunities to optimize and automate operations in order to establish control and mitigate avoidable human errors.
  • Maintain the standard for housekeeping and cleanliness across all operations
  • Must be flexible and willing to support your team in working through and resolving critical asset reliability issues across all production schedules

Asset Care

  • Plan, schedule, and execute asset maintenance work processes
  • Proactively manage and maintain critical asset reliability practices (precision, lube, mechanical integrity, electrical)
  • Own the operations continuity plan, ensuring that asset strategy considers clear paths for major equipment outages
  • Ensure optimal equipment utilization and conduct periodic assessments of equipment usage and efficiency

Manage, Audit, and Maintain All Operations Standards

  • Create, implement, and regularly audit/update all operations standards
  • Hold all leads accountable to creating and revising standards as needed
  • Ensure all operations staff adheres to all department standards

Manage and Implement Continuous Improvement Projects

  • Evaluate & report on key performance metrics impacting performance
  • Maintain accurate spreadsheets to track important department data
  • Lead the on-time delivery of continuous improvement department projects
  • Proactively communicate changes that result from continuous improvement to necessary department staff / company

Monitor the Department Impact on Profit Margins

  • Evaluate & report on key performance metrics impacting profit margin
  • Ensure fiscally responsible staffing department-wide
  • Ensure fiscally responsible spending department-wide
  • Own relationships, pricing, and contracts with all department vendors

Efficiently Staff Department

  • Ensure department is staffed according to the staff labor plan
  • Work with COO to audit and improve the staff labor plan
  • Proactively communicate staffing needs with HR
  • Ensure all department hiring managers are adequately trained on the recruiting process
  • Schedule shifts for direct reports; oversee the schedule of all department staff

Manage Department Staff

  • Manage, audit, and maintain all department training
  • Ensure all department staff are properly trained
  • Hold all department leads accountable to the execution of their job duties, projects, and business-aligned goals
  • Proactively identify opportunities to better resource department staff in achieving their job duties, projects, and business-aligned goals
  • Manage company-wide processes within the department like reviews, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution
