General Summary:

The Barista is responsible for the day-today operations of the coffee bar facilities, as well as ordering, receipting, and stocktaking of stocks, and reconciliation of daily takings. This role requires a pro-active approach to safety and utilization of all of the safety equipment and procedures. 

Essential Functions:

• Operation of the coffee bar which includes but not limited to; prepairing bar for service, take drink orders, prepare and serve drinks, open and close down bar operations, conduct accurate stocktaking on a regular basis.
• Prepare and serve espresso coffee, select, grind and extract coffee, texture milk, serve and present espresso coffee, clean and maintain espresso machine.
• Deliver professional customer service, provide a warm, friendly, and welcoming style of service to all customers, respond to customer requests in a timely manner & ensure customer supplies are replenished, ensure complaints are dealt with satisfactorily, or passed to the appropriate Manager.
• Maintain Coffee bar stock, ensure bar is stocked to provide smooth service to customers, ensure that all single serve snacks, fresh bakery and other foods are stocked fully, and date rotated. Maintain the bar and storerooms as a clean and safe workplace, assist Manager with ordering stock in accordance with company guidelines, rotate stock to minimize out of date stock and reduce wastage.
• Clean and tidy coffee bar areas, clean bar and equipment, clean and maintain public areas, ensure bar is kept hygienically clean at all times.
• Operate a cash register, operate a POS system and other point-of-sale procedures, ensure that customers are charged correctly.
• Apply basic communication skills, receive, and relay information, follow routine instructions, work with others, draft simple correspondence.
• Work with colleagues and customers, communicate effectively in the workplace, maintain personal presentation standards, work effectively in a team.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties within his/her capabilities as required by Supervisor or other Leadership.
