Fisher Associates is Hiring a Highway Design Engineer Near Buffalo, NY

Description

Fisher Associates is seeking an experienced Highway Design Engineer to join our Highway Team within the Transportation Group. The Highway Design Engineer is responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, and management of highways, roads, and other transportation infrastructure. Their role involves a combination of engineering, project management, and problem-solving skills to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

The primary function of this role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships adhering to the Fisher Clientship philosophy.
  • Ability to effectively complete assignments related to highway design, drainage design, alignments, and other duties applicable to these projects.
  • Assist with field inspections and data collection for roadway projects.
  • Develop plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with reviewers and other disciplines to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
  • Proactively assist Project Managers, and Project Engineers and Group Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, consultants, and our clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of project details, including design documents, progress reports, and budget information.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field (MS preferred)
  • 5-10 years minimum of transportation experience, highway engineering experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or ability to obtain it.
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, STAAD, Bridge Design Software preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites.
  • Must be able to access and navigate construction sites and job areas.
  • Ability to transverse uneven grounds
  • Environmental Conditions: Office environment, field environment, construction site environment; exposure to dust, noise, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions when working in the field.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000 annually

Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications/education, and other factors. Salary range excludes monetary value of benefits.
