Title: Nursery Care Provider

Department: Lifespan Religious Education

Reports to: Director of Lifespan Religious Education (DLRE)

Position type: Part-time contract position

Start Date: June 2, 2024

Schedule: Total 4-5 hours per week. Core hours Sunday 9-1 and occasional evening and weekend events

Starting Rate: $17.50 per hour

About the Position: Our nursery provides a safe and nurturing environment for the young children (age 0-5) of our members and friends during Sunday services and other church events. We are looking for an experienced child care provider who is passionate about helping little ones grow into their best selves.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe, clean, nurturing play environment for young children in the nursery
• Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
• Develop and maintain relationships and lines of communication with parents of young children, providing a warm, welcoming presence and sharing information about the community
• Provide leadership as needed when working alongside Youth Nursery Assistants or volunteers
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• College credit hours in early childhood education/related field or equivalent experience
• Experience with young children
• Strong commitment to community service and Unitarian Universalist values
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively
• Demonstrated judgment and understanding of child and youth safety

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• CPR or first aid certification
