Title: Day School Kindergarten Classroom Teacher

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Assistant Director

Position Summary: 

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Kindergarten Classroom Teacher with specialized training in STEAM (Science, Technology Engineering Arts, and Mathematics) education for our private school located in Dallas, Texas.

Essential Functions:  

As the Kindergarten Classroom Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in fostering the cognitive, emotional, physical and social development of our young learners while integrating STEAM concepts into their daily learning experiences. Your dedication to providing a nurturing and innovative environment will empower students to explore, discover, and develop their full potential.

1. Curriculum Planning and Delivery:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and age-appropriate STEAM-focused curriculum for the Kindergarten class.
  • Integrate STEAM concepts across various subject areas, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in young minds.
  • Plan engaging lessons activities, and projects that align with both the school’s guidelines and state educational standards.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the class.

2. Classroom Management:

  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and respected.
  • Establish clear rules and routines to ensure smooth transitions and effective classroom management.
  • Encourage students to develop essential social and emotional skills, promoting a sense of community and cooperation among classmates.

3. Assessments and Progress Monitoring:

  • Regularly assess students’ progress and understanding of STEAM concepts through both formative and summative assessments.
  • Keep detailed records on individual student performance and use this data to inform instruction to meet their individual needs.
  • Collaborate with other educators and parents to address any academic or behavioral concerns promptly.

4. Parents Communication:

  • Foster open and proactive communication with parents or guardians, keeping them informed about their child’s academic progress and classroom activities.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide feedback on their child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and overall development.

5. Professional Development:

  • Stay abreast of current trends research, and best practices in STEAM education, incorporating innovative strategies into classroom instruction.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance effective teaching practices.

6. School Culture and Community Involvement:

  • Participate actively in school-wide events, committee and professional learning communities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote a positive and supportive school culture.
  • Represent the school positively within the local community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a directly related field.
  • Valid teaching certification or license in Texas, (EC-6) or currently enrolled in a certification program.
  • Specialized training or certification STEM (STEAM) education or demonstrated experience integrating STEAM concepts into the curriculum.
  • Proven experience teaching Kindergarten or early childhood education with a focus on child-centered and inquiry-based learning.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and differentiated instruction strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and fellow educators.
  • Passion for fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in young learners.
  • Dedication to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.
