POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Banking Associate - Part-time Effective Date: 9/2023

Reports To: Branch Manager or Assistant Manager Classification: Non-Ex 2

Supervises Directly or Through Subordinates: N/A

Function: Provide customers with high quality service by selling bank products and services and/or making appropriate referrals to other bank personnel. Work in a team environment demonstrating enthusiasm, a positive outlook, and a professional manner while maintaining confidentiality. 

Schedule requirements for this position is 10am-2pm Monday-Friday, and Saturdays 8am-12pm.

Essential Duties:

  • Accurately process customer banking transactions in teller system following bank policies for identification of customers, review of activity and appropriateness of transaction. Place deposit holds as needed. 
  • Exhibit and apply a thorough understanding of account title structures and their resulting impact on account ownership, access to funds, and FDIC insurance coverage.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of loan, investment, and merchant products and refer customers to appropriate Bank personnel to help branch meet referral goals.
  • Provide loan and deposit information regarding the structure and design of bank products including features/benefits, rates, terms, interest calculations, payment applications, balance, and statement information.
  • Investigate and correct errors reported by customers; work with management to report unusual account activity. 
  • Maintain branch's safe deposit box system including access to rented boxes and payments.
  • Accept requests to wire funds.
  • Create necessary forms for stop payments, holds, AFTs and debit cards.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) on daily activities and stay abreast of changes through completion of training classes. 
  • Exhibits an understanding of common scam and fraud situations and knows how to report internally. 
  • Has a full understanding to deposit compliance regulations including Regulation CC – deposit holds.

Other Duties

  • Performs additional duties as requested.

Education:

  • High School degree or GED
  • Direct customer contact experience desirable.
  • Computer experience desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

Reasoning, Mathematical and Language Skills:

Reasoning:

  1. Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
  • Make decisions based on information that can be checked or verified.

Mathematical:

  1. Perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units; calculate cost and make change.
  2. Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions.
  3. Compute ratio, rate and percent.

Language:

  1. Read and understand instructions, safety rules, manuals, security procedures, etc.
  2. Write letters with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.
  3. Speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English and well-modulated voice.

Relationship to Data, People and Equipment:

  Data: Computing: performing arithmetic operations and reporting on and/or carrying out a prescribed action relating to them. Includes counting. 

  People: Attending to the needs, requests or the expressed or implicit wishes of people. Immediate response is involved. Talking with and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Deal with the public tactfully and with courtesy. 

Equipment Used:

  1. Personal computer networked to mini-main frame system
  2. Calculator
  3. Photocopier/Scanner
  4. Cash counting machine 

Physical Demands:

  • Must have the ability to read/see documents and PC screens, to communicate in person and via the telephone, and to use a PC extensively.
  • The ability to speak, see, hear, and write is integral to the position. Requires the use of eyes, hands, and fingers, at the same time, to operate a calculator, and/or personal computer.
  • Requires standing at a workstation, the ability to move to various locations in branch, ability to twist and reach. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Environmental Conditions:

  1. Inside; protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
