SUMMARY Provides asset management expertise to First Interstate’s Wealth Management clients. Performs management of investment portfolios comprised of stocks, ETFs, bonds, and mutual funds with the goal to obtain targeted rate of return within an acceptable level of portfolio risk consistent with the client’s defined investment objective. Develops and provides portfolio and economic reports as required, assures timely and accurate execution of trades for portfolios, and monitors the performance and risk structure of the portfolios under the portfolio manager’s direction. Remains knowledgeable regarding investment markets and economics by staying abreast of current market circumstances, regulatory circumstances, and economic and industry trends. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Oversee a number of investment management accounts, including execution of trades, monitoring asset allocation mixes, rebalancing portfolios, generating required liquidity, and completion of annual regulatory reviews. Be prepared to work with the more complex asset management and fiduciary accounts (trusts); including assets which may consist of private placement issues, closely held assets, insurance assets, concentrated asset positions, etc. Review Investment Policy Statements for accounts to identify unique directives and construct portfolios to comply with those directives. Actively participate in meetings and contribute to the decision making process of the Investment Policy Committee and other committees to which a candidate may be assigned. Develop, maintain, prepare, and distribute reports utilized by various constituents including the Investment Policy Committee. Gather, analyze, and communicate investment research information. Stay informed of developments in the investment markets and effectively communicate that information. Provide asset management expertise to our Wealth Advisors, Investment Specialists, Trust Specialists, Wealth Management clients, as well as other bank staff and customers. Contribute to the retention and growth of Wealth Management division assets under management, including the development of new business proposals, completing RFPs, as well as making presentations to community organizations, clients and prospects. Identify opportunities for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of our work, including collaborative problem solving. Comply with corporate and division regulatory requirements, policies and procedures. Also assist the Asset Management team in meeting regulatory and audit compliance requirements. Assist the Retirement Plan Services group with investment fund evaluation and with meeting various regulatory requirements. Be actively involved in the community through volunteer activities. Demonstrate excellent oral and written presentation skills. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years related work experience is required. An MBA and/or CFA is preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries, complaints, needs of customers, requests by regulatory agencies, or other members of FIB and our communities. Ability to deliver orally and write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Candidate should possess the ability to effectively communicate information to company management, public organizations, clients and prospects, and boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as statistics, exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distributions, determinations of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, written, or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
