Position Summary:

The Resource Specialist is a key member of the banking team responsible for managing daily teller operations, providing exceptional customer service, and overseeing the branch’s cash handling activities. Additionally, the Resource Specialist is expected to assume the responsibilities of the branch manager when they are absent, ensuring smooth operations and a positive customer experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversee all Resource Associates for whom responsible; provide input and may participate in Resource Associate appraisal process.
  2. Work directly with Branch Manager in preparing all Resource Associates schedules to maintain proper staffing.
  3. Assist Branch Manager in scheduling regular staff meetings and be prepared to lead (if necessary) for ongoing training.
  4. Monitor and control all “detail responsibilities” generally performed by Resource Associates, delegating those duties in a manner which will maximize efficiency of the office.
  5. Ensure that the appearance of the Resource Associate areas and personnel are neat, organized and in accordance with Bank policy.
  6. Balancing
    1. Ensure each Resource Associate balances every day and daily balance sheets are properly prepared.
    2. Assist in locating any differences if necessary. All differences should be properly initialed and reported to the Branch Manager immediately.
    3. Responsible for balancing Resource Associates to General Ledger.
    4. Ensure each Resource Associate’s work has been scanned and submitted to proof in a neat and orderly manner to receive end of day.
    5. Prepare balance sheets for ATM after completion of Loading ATM under dual control.
  7. Security
    1. Ensure that all negotiable and confidential records in the work area are properly secured each day.
    2. Opening of the night depository and the contents should be under dual control every day.
    3. Conduct regular unannounced audits of all Vault and Resource Associate cash by maintaining a written, signed record of each audit and reporting any exception to the Branch Manager.
    4. Assist Branch Manager in ensuring robbery packets are accessible, location is known and are up-to-date.
    5. Move to off-line procedures during a disaster or when power is lost.
  8. Vault
    1. Vault Custodians balance vault at the end of day (unless vault is under dual control)
    2. Buy and sell cash from/to Resource Associates
    3. Prepare ATM cassettes as needed under dual control
    4. Verify all cash drawers are locked in the vault and the vault is closed with alarm set at the end of the day
    5. Monitor cash levels, order and ship money as needed
  9. Maintain required monthly cash balances on all cash boxes, vaults, and audits.
  10. Receive cash and checks for deposit, verify amounts and look for check endorsements. 
  11. Management Duties (when BM is absent):
    1. Assume the role of the branch manager during their absence.
    2. Make decisions that align with the bank’s policies and goals.
    3. Understand employee concerns, including coaching and addressing disciplinary issues with the branch manager when necessary.
    4. Collaborate with other department head and senior management as required.
    5. Ensure that branch operations continue seamlessly and efficiently in the absence of the manager.
  12. Adhere to policy and procedures to guard against acceptance of counterfeit bills.
      1. If counterfeits are discovered, follow proper policy and procedures.
  13. Cash checks for customers after verifying identification and checking account balances in accordance with bank policy.
  14. Enter transactions into computer and issue customer receipts.
  15. Count cash and balance cash and checks against computer records at end of shift.
  16. Prepare official checks as requested.
  17. Provide overrides as needed.
  18. Explain bank services and charges to customers.
  19. Make required monthly referrals for bank products and services to current and prospective customers.
  20. Observe suspicious behavior and report any such activity to Branch Manager/Regional Operations Manager and/or security personnel as appropriate. In the event of a robbery, remain calm and follow bank procedures to safeguard customers and staff. 
  21. Substitute as needed during lunches and short breaks and perform simple functions such as accessing safe deposit boxes and explaining ATM operations.
  22. Assist with monitoring employees weekly and with reaching their set goals.
  23. Responsible for their own Resource Associate drawer.
  24. Adhere to the job duties as a Resource Associate.
  25. Adhere to the BSA Policy and all other Bank Policies.
  26. Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • 1 year of Resource Specialist Assistant experience or 2 years of Resource Associate experience or 1 year Resource Associate experience with First Guaranty Bank
