Salary Range: $20.00 - $30.00 (USD) hourly

The Junior Programmer position is a key role at First Community and affords a rewarding career with competitive pay and excellent benefits. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s Degree and/or two years of job related experience is preferred. Good PC/data entry skills, demonstrating exceptional attention to details, and knowledge of programming language fundamentals is required. Knowledge of version control systems (GIT) is preferred. Java, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript knowledge is beneficial. This position requires the individual to understand or be willing to learn how to build business forms and workflow processes with a core banking programming language.

Must demonstrate a positive attitude, a professional image, be self-motivated, possess effective oral and written communication skills, and have the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must express a desire to learn and improve employee processes in collaboration with programmers, management and other departmental teams.
  • Develop, implement and maintain forms, reports, letters, standard and html-based workflows.
  • Work as part of a team to develop processes that enhance the core systems' capabilities and provide updates as requested.
  • Work as a supporting role in coordination with other Application Development staff that develop and maintain the company dynamically-driven websites and web-based technologies as assigned.
  • Apply department coding policies and procedures to every day projects.
  • Apply communications, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify and resolve employee issues by developing effective code.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Application Development Department to effectively and efficiently provide service to staff throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable Microsoft Windows applications and possesses the ability to learn new applications independently.
  • Apply skills to perform the entire forms development process as well as other tasks.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decision within responsibility level.
  • Communicate effectively with members, coworkers, and management.
  • Represents the Credit Union with honesty, integrity and trust at all times.
  • Adhere to established internal policies and procedures for compliance.
  • Complete required compliance training in a timely manner and complies with all regulations within scope of the position.

BASE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Be willing to perform any duty (beyond Primary Duties above) as assigned.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle different situations; i.e., demonstrate versatility.
  • Recognize and listen to member/coworker requests and/or concerns and identify their needs so they may better be served.
  • Assist with gathering information as required of the position and/or as requested by the manager.
  • Possess a detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software applications that is adequate to perform the duties assigned. 
  • Adequately perform all operational functions to fulfill the requirements of the position and provide other support functions as requested.
  • Be a team player, a good coach, and serve as a role model for all credit union staff.
  • Communicate effectively with members, coworkers, and management.
  • Represents the Credit Union with honesty, integrity and trust at all times.
  • Adheres to established internal policies and procedures for compliance. Completes required compliance training in a timely manner and complies with all regulations within scope of the position.
  • Adheres to the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act and anti-money laundering regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of items weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Potential exposure to the threat of violence at any time.
  • Occasional business travel may be required.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time may be required.
  • Repetitive motions and extensive keyboarding may be required.
