First Children School in Plainfield, Union County, is a New Jersey Department of Education approved private school for students with disabilities serving students in grades PreK through high school. We specialize in educating students with multiple disabilities including those who are medically fragile, developmentally, intellectually, or physically disabled, deaf or hard of hearing, and/or visually impaired.
The Instructional Paraprofessional assists the Teacher by performing routine duties in caring for children within the classroom and maintaining a safe and clean physical environment. The Instructional Paraprofessional participates, under the direction of the Teacher, in the education and therapy program.
Day to day primary functions:
Provide one on one instruction as directed by the teacher.
Assist with maintaining a neat and clean classroom environment.
Records, files and maintain attendance records and staff schedules.
Assist teacher with positioning, feeding and toileting of children.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What we require from you:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working with children.
Previous experience working with disabilities.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
