First Capitol Animal Hospital is searching for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our incredible practice.

Our hospital has a great reputation for providing exceptional veterinary care to dogs, cats, and birds of prey in St. Charles, and we are eager to welcome a new member to our team. This is an excellent opportunity for Veterinary Assistants with current experience, excellent critical thinking skills, a passion for veterinary medicine, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

We are looking to hire a full-time, Monday-Friday role (8-hour shifts) with occasional half-Saturdays.

Background and experience:

• Skilled Veterinary Assistant with more than 3 years of hands-on experience
• Experience caring for dogs, cats, and exotic animals
• Dependable, enthusiastic, hardworking, honest, and team orientated individual
• Strong work ethic and ability to jump in and help where needed
• Ability to provide the gold standard of medicine and client communication
• Long-term commitment to the veterinary field
• Familiarity (or experience with) Cornerstone is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Taking patient histories
• Assisting in exams
• Assisting in surgery
• Injection and medication administration
• Gentle patient restraint
• Pharmacy duties
• Blood draws
• Outpatient procedures
• General hospital cleaning
• Client service and communication
• Assisting the front desk as needed

Full-time benefits:

• Compensation: $17.00 - $22. 00/hour (based on experience and credentials)

About our hospital:

First Capitol Animal Hospital is a 2.5-doctor practice based in St. Charles, MO, near the historic district. We primarily treat small animals, and our doctors are well-equipped to see routine surgery cases, dentistry, and orthopedics. In addition to our permanent DVM team we also have great relationships with relief doctors in the area and have an incredible talented support staff. Our hospital has 5 exam rooms and is equipped with a full in-house laboratory, dental radiology, an iM3 unit, heated surgery tables, electrosurgery unit and more. We’re in a great location less than 30 miles from downtown St. Louis and 10 miles from the airport.
