Firestone Pacific Foods (FPF) grows, freezes and packs frozen fruit products on behalf of food retailers and foodservice companies in the United States and overseas. Our fruit is harvested at the peak of ripeness, processed and packed in our state-of-the art facilities shipment with a keen attention to quality and food safety.
 The Firestone Family began farming in the Vancouver, WA, in 1896. In 2019, an impact investment fund managed by Agriculture Capital acquired FPF to build out a low cost, vertically integrated supply chain of high quality, organic blueberries operating at scale to address growing global demand for this nutritious fruit. 

Position Summary

The Operations Support 3 is a trained employee in standard Operations support 1 & 2 responsibilities. Is proficient in either Machine operating, Quality checks, or material handling. This role will fill in for needs when another position is left vacant either through PTO, Sick time, or necessity for completing the goals of the day.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs all tasks assigned by Production Lead. 
  • Load and unload materials from equipment, totes, and pallets. 
  • Feed or place materials onto equipment for processing. 
  • Assist operators in set up of production lines. 
  • Mix materials to customer specification. 
  • Stack and wrap materials on pallets. 
  • Attach appropriate labels to materials. 
  • Must be willing to be cross-trained and move to other areas when needed. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized production area. 
  • Ensure that all products are processed to the highest standard of quality. 
  • Keep a constant visual on Forklift Operators. 
  • Notify Machine Operator of any mechanical issues. 
  • Complies with company policies and procedures. 

Proficiency and capability of performing one of the following.

Quality Checks

  • Collect fresh and frozen microbiological samples using statistical sampling methods. 
  • Collect finished product and packaging retention samples.
  • Verify accuracy of scales, weight checkers and metal detectors according to established Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP). 
  • Perform finished product quality checks per customer specifications and/or USDA grading guidelines. 
  • Verify product labels, package codes, target weights and packaging artwork.
  • Conduct routine quality verification audits.
  • Handle chemicals and verify sanitizer concentration levels according to SOP. 
  • Uphold food safety and quality policies.

Material Handling

  • Oversee daily inventory transactions and adjustments to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Issues materials, timely, into production Jobs and completes all necessary paperwork/tasks for stock materials issued manually or by scanning. 
  • Receives materials, timely, out of production Jobs and completes all necessary paperwork/tasks for stock material received.
  • Record and complete all shipping documents timely.
  • Perform and report; inventory counts and discrepancies to the Inventory Lead and Supervisor.
  • Transports products from the Tempering room and production floor to the packaging lines both physically and in the system.
  • Transports products from the freezer/cooler (IQF) to production lines both physically and in the system.
  • Unload inbound shipments safely (IQF), enter in system, and store appropriately in storage locations (coolers). 
  • Transports finished products from the tunnels or packaging line to receive into inventory both physically and in the Inventory system.
  • Ensure BOL for any truck loads are complete and accurate (IQF).
  • Delivers empty pallets and packaging materials to the production line.
  • Wraps loaded pallets according to company guidelines.
  • Ensures electric jacks and/or forklifts are in working order and reports problem to Warehouse Manager
  • Operate Company equipment with the iWarehouse functions and report if system is not functioning as intended.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Follows all safety requirements related to operating the forklift and stretch wrap equipment.
  • Report any accidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Follows company safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Efficiently stack and store materials in the appropriate locations.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures.

Machine Operator

  • Assist the set up the production equipment and materials needed before starting production run. Usually, 1 hour before.
  1. Bag Machines
  2. Optical Sorters
  3. X-ray and Metal Detectors
  4. Tape Machines and Inkjets
  5. All other required equipment
  • Make minor adjustments to production equipment insuring proper working order.
  • Report all necessary repairs and/or request, directly to Maintenance personnel.
  • Work under the guidance of the Production Manager to perform and complete, all production schedules and tasks.
  • Monitor and maintain production equipment with proper materials.
  • Recommend changes to improve production efficiencies, safeties, and costs.
  • Identify and report unsafe operations to Production Manager immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies for operating production equipment.
  • Operate lift trucks and other vehicles, to safely move and place production equipment as needed.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures.

  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or irregular hours especially during fresh processing season.
  • Passion for great tasting and nutritious fruit products, including smoothies, would be a big plus.
