Position Summary:

Program Coordinator Behavioral Health - Tiffin

Under the supervision of the assigned Director, responsible for the overall supervision of clinical staff, with the exception of Medical Staff, of the assigned site(s). Directly supervises all assigned staff in accordance with department, State and licensure requirements.

Engages collaboratively with other departments of Firelands Health.

What You Will Do:

  • Productively engages in and supports the Strategic Plans of the Medical Center and the Department including initiatives for increasing patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction and morale. Demonstrates this support through communications and actions with peers and supervisees.
  • Effectively communicates the rationale behind policies and procedures to supervisees and seeks input from other members of the management team, as needed, in order to understand and support these practices.
  • Recognizes the consequences of negativity and provides timely and consistent feedback to those who are habitually negative (including self-monitoring).
  • Serves as a team player who is flexible and willing to vary responsibilities in response to site/department/co-worker needs.
  • Ensures the department maintains ongoing compliance with accreditation and licensure standards using data from the EMR to identify and proactively address deficiencies.
  • Continuously monitors staff performance; demonstrates appreciation for staff; and provides coaching (before discipline) to improve performance when needed.
  • Provides supervision, and training that promotes both compliance with department standards and quality of patient care.
  • Understands and supports the policies and procedures necessary to promote a healthy financial infrastructure. Understands and is able to effectively communicate the role of Patient Care Standards (PCS), to supervisees, in relation to both our service provision and the need to support the expenses of the organization.
  • Ensures timely and accurate documentation for both patient care and revenue needs. Understand the requirements related to public and private insurances (as well as grant funds, when applicable) and promotes the practices necessary to draw down those funds i.e. prior-authorizations, GPRA completion, etc.
  • Serves on rotation for the manager on-call system. Remains current with emergency service policies and procedures. Directly involved in addressing clinical and administrative problems while serving on-call.
  • Is able to effectively and efficiently utilize EMR and video-conferencing software. Utilizes work email on a daily basis keeping current with FRMC and departmental communications. For new hires, these skills are in place by the end of the probationary period. Ensures all electronic forms of communication, that include PHI, are compliant with HIPAA and 42 CFR laws regarding confidentiality. Is able to effectively orient supervisees to these processes.

What You Will Need:

  • Master’s Degree in a behavioral health related field. Appropriate clinical license, as required, for the supervision of assigned staff. Two years’ experience in the behavioral health or related field. 
  • Demonstrated skills with electronic medical records, Microsoft products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and a general aptitude for adapting to technology.
  • Level I: Master’s degree in a mental health, drug/alcohol or related field, plus appropriate independent license (LPCC )
  • Heart Saver and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn and utilize EMR.
