JOB TITLE: Extractor / Roaster Technician 

DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing - Syrup

REPORTS TO: Senior Production Manager

LOCATION: Lincoln, RI

DESCRIPTION:

Initiate set-up, run, troubleshoot, and changeover of extractor. Set up and operate roasting and grinding equipment. Collection of production data and production samples for statistical and quality programs. Perform quality control testing of roasted coffee beans and maintain work area in a neat and safe manner. To ensure all activities are handled in accordance with Finlay’s mission, business philosophy, ethics, and goals.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Extractor

• Collect data and define root cause of any machine operational issues.
• Optimize machine capacity.
• Set up and operate machine from scratch, troubleshoot problems, assist in routine maintenance functions.
• Gather samples / document policies and procedures.
• Run the CIP system for tanks.

 Roaster

Operate all roasting Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’s).

• Blend coffees according to instructions.
• Perform necessary quality control tests.
• Complete Paperwork.
• Keep track of green bean inventory.
• Perform preventative maintenance (burn-out) of roasters and cooking pans.
• Dump green coffee into holding bins.
• Keep roasting/grinding area clean. 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

• General housekeeping, removal of trash, clean work area.
• Cross train personnel in different 3^rd shift operations.
• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to communicate in English both verbally and written.
• Must be a team player, flexible and have good time management skills.
• Must be quality conscious and detail oriented.
• Must be able to work overtime or start earlier / stay late as needed.
• Mechanically inclined and understand the production process.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High School graduate or GED.
• Forklift Certified or able to obtain certification.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Wet, Humid, and Hot.

• Able to stand, bend, and stretch while working on machine.
• Ability to lift or push/pull weight upwards of 50 pounds. 
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
