GIS Analyst / Technician Position Summary
This position reports to the CL/HCA/MCA Supervisor for TIMP Risk, and is a critical position responsible for working with a cross-functional team of program managers, engineers, and GIS analysts in support of the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP) annual Class Location (CL), High Consequence Area (HCA), and Moderate Consequence Area (MCA) studies.
The Class Location, HCA, and MCA analysis requires a count of building structures meant for human occupancy within specified distances from PG&E’s gas transmission lines. This project is designed to generate remote sensing data that will be used to analyze structure counts near PG&E Gas Transmission pipelines by TIMP’s CL/HCA/MCA Team.
This individual will provide database development support by translating change detection activities utilizing advanced processing techniques in ArcGIS.
The successful candidate must be an advocate for safety, lead by example, and help PG&E attain its vision of being the leading utility by leveraging the skills and experience of a diverse team to focus on the successful delivery of assigned programs.
This position is currently located in San Ramon.
Qualifications
Minimum
3 years of work experience in GIS, project management, process development, or related field.
Bachelor’s Degree / equivalent or relevant experience with an emphasis in GIS preferred.
1 year experience in ArcGIS 10.x or later.
Desired
Utility or Pipeline industry experience.
Remote Sensing data (LiDAR and Ortho) classification.
Integrity Management and Risk Management experience.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience in developing, implementing, and documenting workflows and GIS best practices.
Being proficient with ESRI ArcGIS 10x with extensions Network Analyst, 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst.
Must work well in a close team environment.
Responsibilities
Digitize, create, maintain, display and update GIS databases.
Perform ortho photo-interpretation and change detection analysis using LiDAR derived building footprints acquired and classified during the study period.
Attribute structure type and determine occupancy information.
Perform QC checks for structure review to ensure critical fields are present in database.
Reconcile and post edits to production version and resolve conflicts.
