Fincantieri Marine Group is Hiring a Tool Room Foreman Near Marinette, WI

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Tool Room Foreman at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

Lead a team of union trade personnel with responsibility for interface with VMI vendors. Manage three Tool Rooms B10, B21, and Paint Bldg B31. The responsibility includes a strong accountability for the check in and check out of the tools and consumable items thru a bar coding system it need to support the various Stage of Construction for the construction of ships for the delivery to both commercial and military customers. Manage assigned crew to attain quality, schedule and cost objectives. Review and understand department, organization, and company goals and objectives and support execution plans that ensure positive predictable results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including: training employees, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Safety and Security: observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
  • Implement organization policies and goals.
  • Measure performance to budget and support Area Manager [Yard Service] in budget analysis and budget adherence.
  • Plan overtime and schedule resources as required to meet program schedules.
  • Review, recommend and plan implementation of new processes and procedures.
  • Maintain a commitment to the company vision and the "spirit" of the organization.
  • Preside over the employee meetings.
  • When directed by Area Manager [Yard Service] will support the Yard Service Work Scope [Fire Watch, Scaffolding] to assist the other supervisor in Yard Service Group.
  • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives, and recommend revisions of objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
  • Maintain the interface with VMI, Purchasing to ensure the orders are place and approve budget base on the fiscal year goal set forth.
  • Interface with Area Manager [Yard Service] to revise project and facility objectives and plan in accordance with current conditions.
  • Communicate clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
  • Develop employees for future advancement when possible.
  • Understand and work within the union contract requirements.
  • Work with the MMC Company Nurse to facilitate the placement of the light duty work assignments for the affected employees.
  • Complete non contract requisitions for tool room items that do not fall under the VMI scope.
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 0 to 15 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of trade experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or shipbuilding environment.

SKILLS:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to instruct assigned personnel on processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with inventory software programs [i.e. Cribmaster, Lawson, MP2] setting up and initiate inventory numbering systems
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills.
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
