Job Overview

The Youth and Young Adult Homeless Services (YHS) Associate MFT / Associate Clinical Social Worker will conduct biopsychosocial assessments to determine treatment needs of youth and young adults. Provide rehabilitative and psychotherapeutic counseling; individual, couples, group and family therapy/rehabilitation as determined based on treatment plan created in consultation with the client and work to empower them to secure living, vocational, recreational, and interpersonal goals. MFT / Associate Clinical Social Worker ensures compliance with contractual obligations and FBSMV organization values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides biopsychosocial assessments and mental health evaluations of individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Provides rehabilitation and psychotherapy as indicated in both individual and group settings.
  • Cooperates and works with other agencies, including Behavioral Wellness, Public Health, Department of Social Services and probation with proper releases, to secure good outcomes.
  • Educates clients and their families regarding their diagnosis, treatment and recovery process.
  • Provides Case Management to assist clients to obtain stable housing, physical health care, benefits and entitlements, and to learn and develop living skills.
  • Connects clients with community resources and other support services such as medical evaluations, treatment, and social services, 12 Step programs or other like programs, and sober activity groups.
  • Connects clients to and manages treatment services, including detox, out-patient, in-patient and Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAP).
  • Develops individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients addressing short-term and long- term goals for Drug and Alcohol treatment and rehabilitation to aid in the client’s recovery.
  • Reviews treatment plans regularly with the clients to assess progress, identify barriers, and modify/change goals to ensure goals are achievable, individualized and strength based.
  • Assists clients in communicating effectively with the criminal justice system and court officials if behaviors associated with mental health issues causes legal problems for the client.
  • Help clients with relapse prevention after they exit treatment.
  • Provides psycho-social rehabilitation services (i.e., coping skills, problem-solving skills, communication skills, assertiveness skills, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate and timely data and client documentation in the agency data system including all services provided including biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information as it pertains to HIPAA and legal and ethical standards of the MFT and LCSW professions.
  • Provide services focused on enhancing the clients’ ability to independently problem solve, utilize effective coping skills and manage and self-coordinate their own care.
  • Regularly attend required meetings to represent program and clients and participate in processes.
  • Provides crisis stabilization skills to homeless youth and young adults in need.
  • Provides transportation to needed services as indicated and will provide services in locations that will best meet the needs of the clients.
  • Assist the program manager in completing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Be able and willing to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Experience

  • Experience providing service to clients who have severe and persistent mental health challenges which includes substance abuse disorder and treating mental health disorders in combination with substance abuse (dual diagnosis) is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with at risk youth, adults, and families.
  • Experience with, and/or knowledge of, research-based alcohol/drug abuse prevention/intervention, trauma informed care and/or homeless intervention strategies.
  • Experience working in non-profit organizations is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.

  • Coordination - Must be able to quickly gain an understanding of the relationship of all organization positions to each other, and their impact on meeting organization goals. Ability to work with others in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, functioning as a team member.
  • Initiative - Must demonstrate initiative and take proactive approach toward duties and organization as a whole.

  • Flexibility - Must be able and willing to work some nights and weekends.
  • Other - Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, insurance, and reliable vehicle to do agency errands as needed.

Education and/or Experience

  • Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LCSW or LMFT or Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a MFT Associate or Associate Social Worker and:
  • Possession of a master’s degree in social work from an accredited university; or in marriage, family and child counseling, marital and family therapy, counseling psychology, clinical psychology, counseling with an emphasis in marriage, family and child counseling, or social work with an emphasis on clinical social work or other equivalent master’s degree from a college or university approved by the California

Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.

Compensation

$36 - $43 per hour depending on experience. 40 hours a week, full time position $74,880 - $89,440 per year.
Health insurance is available after 30 day probationary period.
