Fields Senior Living is Hiring a Director of Memory Care Near Arlington, WA

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and manages Alderbrook staff including scheduling, assignments, directing, coaching and training.
  • Ensures 24 hr/ 7 day per week staffing coverage per FSL guidelines and staffing model.Be available to assist with coverage when needed to include caregiving or med tech duties.
  • Creation, planning and organizing the daily Connections program to ensure that planning includes 7 days per week resident engagement activities.
  • Create a monthly calendar with our resident’s preferences, abilities and needs in mind.
  • Lead, direct, assist and encourage staff by modeling the proper approaches and communication techniques appropriate in Dementia and Alzheimer’s Care.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff performance under the FSL guidance and expectations.
  • Department improvement through problem solving, program development and refinement.
  • Complete individual resident Life Story, assessments including personal preferences to create, individual care plans and promote personalized care.
  • Train and engage team around resident’s life stories, history and preferences to best provide personalized care.
  • Create, train and encourage pro-active problem-solving approaches to challenging resident behaviors.
  • Partner with external professional agencies to implement, facilitate and promote Family/Caregiver Support Group.
  • Work with and foster external professional relationships via outreach opportunities to promote FSL.
  • Work closely with Director of Resident Services (DRS) to create and maintain all professional contact relationships.
  • Work together with DRS to create training plan to incorporate Dementia training in monthly All Staff Meetings as well as department specific training. Including Elder Abuse Training for new employees.
  • Meet with DRS regularly to discuss all matters including resident care, family concerns and training opportunities within the community.
  • Deliver, participate and attend all required training for self and employees.
  • Knowledge of the disease process, and all dementia related illnesses is preferred.
  • Experienced with staff supervision.
  • Ensures that the delivery of care and services including assistance with ADLS, following of individual care plans, following guidance of State Regulations and expectations of FSL guidelines.
  • Offer Dementia expertise, training, resources while collaborating with professional internal and external community leaders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and carry out wellness plans to encourage, enhance and maintain overall health and wellbeing of each of our residents.
  • Understands and remains in compliance with all state regulations specific for Memory Care Communities.
  • Conducts interviews, screening, hiring, and training for Alderbrook Team Members including ongoing Dementia Training.
  • Meet with family members to discuss changes to individual care plans to meet goals and needs of resident. This includes care, nutrition, engagement, environmental and overall health and happiness of the resident. Document outcome of meeting in resident PCC notes.
  • Support and monitor the day-to-day delivery of quality resident care resulting in high resident, family and associate satisfaction.
  • Understand and manage department budget.
  • Recruit, organize and oversee volunteer program in Memory Care.
  • Collaborate with Alderbrook Life Enrichment Assistant to ensure that all scheduled programs are being completed, attended by residents and are appropriate for resident’s abilities and needs.
  • Provides tours of the community and assist with the move-in. Including, but not limited to: setting up medical charts, arranging for delivery of medications, equipment and ensuring resident is assessed appropriately before move in.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Functions:

  • Must possess qualities of leadership, tact, and adaptability to change. Must be neat in appearance, pleasant personality, be congenial to fellow team members, residents, families, and the public in general. Must be capable of using own judgement and initiative in daily duties.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and meetdeadlines.
  • Mustbedetailandteam-workoriented.
  • Must attend required in-services/ workshops to further education of skills andcommunityrequirements.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass Criminal Background Check, Health Screening including TB test.
  • A passion for helping seniors, especially those living with Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.
  • Experience working with Dementia residents.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Able to work all shifts to ensure staffing coverage when needed.
  • The employee shall be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Fields Senior Living.

Physical Demands and Requirements:

  • Maintain ability to lift 50 pounds; to stand or walk throughout the vast majority of the workday; and to frequently push, pull, bend, twist and reach.
  • Mustbewillingtobeactiveandonfeetduringentireworkshift.
  • Involves light to heavy physical activity performing non-strenuous and strenuous activities.
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity to work with the fingers and to reach/hand items
