Job Description:

The Department

Located primarily in Merrimack, New Hampshire, Fidelity’s Fixed Income Division is one of the country’s leading fixed income managers with over $1.5 trillion in fixed income assets managed by a staff of roughly 200 investment professionals. At Fidelity, we combine fundamental research on domestic and international debt issuers with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to develop investment decisions. Our goal is to use our financial expertise to help people live the lives they want.

The Position

The government money market trader will be an integral member of the Fixed Income money market investment team. The money market team consists of portfolio managers (PMs), research analysts, quantitative analysts, and traders that work together collectively to make informed investment decisions that benefit our shareholders. The taxable money market trader will have a particular focus across various government money market security types.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Focus on multiple aspects of government money market trading
  • Source investment opportunities and access liquidity in the marketplace
  • Collect, organize, and disseminate relevant market and trading information to the investment team
  • Partner with portfolio managers, traders, and analysts to generate investment ideas that will have a positive impact on our investment performance
  • Establish and maintain strong dealer relationships (sales, trading)
  • Represent the trading desk in periodic team meetings and other ad hoc forums
  • Partner with technology, compliance, legal, operations, and other internal groups to provide best-in-class service and execution capabilities to various portfolios

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of buy-side or sell-side fixed income investment-related experience
  • Undergraduate degree required with progress toward MBA/CFA preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in investing and capital markets
  • Strong analytical ability along with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a constant focus on accuracy
  • Team player who is flexible, willing to pitch-in where needed, be familiar with front-to-back office operations, and proficient with technology
  • Ability to think creatively and independently while working in a collaborative environment
  • Aptitude for using new technologies to enhance our workflows, trading systems, and market surveillance capabilities

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs.
