Description

This position involves being a Machine Operator to a welding machine by placing automotive parts into a machine to be welded automatically. No welding experience is necessary.

Position Summary

Set up, operate, or tend welding machines or robots to treat metals and alloys. Follow Quality Control requirements for high strength, pressure, and aesthetics.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform process evaluation by completing forms prior to shift or operating machines
• Assemble, align, and clamp workpieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components
• Load workpieces into welding machines
• Start, monitor, and adjust robotic welding production lines
• Turn and press buttons to start welding machines
• Install appropriate electrode size and type, tips, and welding rod or wire
• Remove part from welding machines and place final products into containers
• Record operational information on specified production reports
• Test and visually inspect completed workpieces for defects or quality issues, using leak tests
• Use hand tools, such as hammers, chisels, wrenches, and wire cutters
• Notify Maintenance or Team Leader to correct problems with machine operation
• Follow written instructions from Quality Control to ensure conformance with specifications
• Notify Quality Control of any defective parts
• Follow standard work instructions
• Perform other duties assigned

Requirements

• Must be able to speak and read basic English to comply with position, Safety, Plant & PPE procedures & requirements
• Must be willing to cross-train
• Must be able to work company’s required overtime
• Must comply with FIC’s Attendance and Punctuality Policy
