Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Associate Director leads key initiatives and projects of importance to improve the Office of the CFO's effectiveness internally and across the organization. Performs critical functions that directly impact the attainment of the organization's financial goals and support the FHI 360's strategic initiatives. Per executive request, the Associate Director, Finance Projects, will lead complex, high-profile initiatives and projects and manage matrixed, cross-organizational teams to execute mandated scope and deliverables, which are essential for the success and sustainability of the OCFO department and the organization.

Accountabilities:
  • Assists in recommending and implementing organizational administrative changes aimed at achieving an optimum level of operating efficiency, reduction of duplication of services and consolidation of resources. Helps prepare a viable business model by which such goals may be met.

  • Assists in ensuring that all applicable regulations, guidelines, and legal requirements are met in the execution of financial operations; assists in establishing and maintaining professional standards or performance and providing leadership in the development of common goals and objectives among departments involved in fiscal operations.

  • Leads key projects, initiatives, and processes improvement efforts to improve the quality, efficiency and performance of the finance department to help the organization achieve its strategic priorities.

  • Identifies issues and provides recommendations to management for improved financial performance and enterprise risk management.

  • Regularly reports progress and results initiatives/project activities to executive leadership and directors.

  • Coaches, mentors, and manages staff to meet departmental and organizational goals.

  • Provides full oversight of special initiatives and projects, from initiation to completion, ensuring clarity over plans and priorities and encouraging effective teamwork through the management of cross-functional project teams.

  • Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals and strategic vision of management.

  • Develops and delivers project plans, documentation, presentations and budget proposals to management and staff.

  • Provides final decision making on projects and problems, as delegated.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

  • Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), reporting and fiscal control practices preferred but not required.

  • In-depth-knowledge of the organizational structure, policies and practices, and the implementation and utilization within department and cross-organizationally.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with project management, process development and execution.

  • Ability to create process workflow models and implement necessary refinements to increase overall process improvement, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Education: **
  • Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent

  • Master's degree or its International Equivalent preferred.

  • Project Management certification preferred.

Experience: **
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of project management experience and 5 years at the corporate or organizational level.

  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.

  • Prior management experience preferred.

  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).

  • Experience in multi-sector management and implementation.

  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP), GAS (Government Auditing Standards), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) preferred but not required.

Typical Physical Demands:
  • Typical office environment.

  • Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.

Technology to be Used:
  • Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

Travel Requirements:
  • Less than 10%

Pay Equity and Benefits:

The expectedhiringsalary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.

Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.

Hiring Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000
