Family Guidance Centers, Inc. (FGC), a not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization, treats and prevents substance abuse, as well as an array of other related problems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Act as the Janitor and assist in the daily Janitorial operations at Family Guidance Centers, Inc., 120 N. 11th St., and satellite locations when needed. Perform daily, weekly and monthly routines. Communicate with Manager any specific projects and work to be performed or building deficiencies. Assist and communicate with staff and manager for any special set-ups or events.

General Duties: Janitorial

Complete daily janitorial checklist and all associated work:

• Restock restroom and general areas
• Restock paper to copy area
• Adjust thermostats
• Clean all restrooms and check all fixtures for leaks and function report any deficiencies.
• Refill/ Replace towels, toilet paper & air-fresheners as needed
• Take out garbage, condense and neatly place in dumpsters (On trash day move dumpster to appropriate location.)
• Sweep and mop all floors
• Vacuum all the offices
• Wipe down/dust all tables, cafeteria, offices, group rooms, etc.
• Clean all interior and exteriors windows, doors and window sills (Exterior windows – weather permitting)
• Keep up floors: strip & wax or buffing as needed
• Keep grounds tidy, free of garbage
• Clean all base boards
• Dust all mini blinds
• Wash walls if needed

 Entry, grounds and loading dock.

• Sweep entry areas; remove trash from grounds.
• Keep external window and stairwells clear of trash and debris.
• Keep dumpster area clean and free of clutter.
• Periodically observe exterior of building i.e. Structure, roof and windows. Report any deficiencies to AVP.

 Remove snow and ice from walkways during inclement weather. Ensures walkways are kept clear by spreading ice melt or rock salt.

• Shovel snow from front and back of building (during winter months)
• Use of gas powered snow blower and manual shovels

 Properly store and handle biohazard material:

• Medication bottles

 Respond timely to emergencies:

• Solve the problem, work to get problem resolved, or escalate to executives 
• Inform managers of any maintenance problems

 Keep storage and work areas clean and orderly:

• Sweep and Vacuum
• Properly stock supply boxes
• Keep maintenance equipment neat and in their proper locations

Other Job Responsibilities: As assigned.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to work at elevated heights (i.e. ladders, scaffolds and roof etc.). While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. You would be required the ability to lift files, open filling cabinets, and sit or stand as necessary. You would also be required to view a computer screen for long periods of time. Ability to communicate in English via phone, writing, and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff and any outside vendors.

Schedule: Monday thru Friday 6:00 am to 2:30pm
