Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers is Hiring a Technician ophthalmology Near Brandon, FL

Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers is seeking a detail oriented technician for our Ophthalmology Department.

The Ophthalmology Veterinary technician will coordinate with the Fetch ophthalmology team, as well as the specialty and emergency teams to ensure outstanding patient care.

Essential Functions

Able to monitor and care for patients using state of the art equipment and protocols

Technical skills to include proper animal restraint, anesthesia monitoring, intubation of felines and canines, catheter placement, phlebotomy, and performing treatments

Assist with ocular exams

Perform or assist with diagnostic testing (Shirmer Tear Testing, Tonometry, Ocular Ultrasounds, Electroretinogram testing, etc.)

Knowledge of anesthetic protocols used for ophthalmology patients-including use of the ventilator

Knowledge of running in house lab machines and sending lab samples out

Knowledge of positioning and taking radiographs

Knowledge of triage for new consults and rechecks, and the ability to discuss estimates for diagnostics, procedures, and / or treatments with the clients

Sound knowledge of the services procedures and processes

Cleaning, stocking and helping to maintain proper care of the hospitals equipment

Excellent communication skills with the clients and the ability to provide nursing care for medicine patients

Requirements

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital

A passion for providing exceptional medical care to pets and their families

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
