Position: Little Eagles Associate Teacher (Paraprofessional)
Location: Ferndale Early Childhood Center
Reports to: Early Childhood Director
Salary: Pursuant to the UAW Bargaining Unit ($11.77/hr.) (UAW Contract)
Start Date: 2021/2022 School Year
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 4:00
Group: UAW
Qualifications:
Child Development Associates (CDA) required or willingness to enroll in coursework leading to a CDA or have an associate’s degree in early childhood development
Good oral and written communication skills
Experience working with preschool aged children, ages 3-5 (center-based programs preferred)
Personal philosophy supports play-based learning in early childhood education
Good organizational and record keeping skills
Able to work well with school staff, parents, and students
Understanding of goals, philosophy and components of early childhood education
Possess skills, attributes and characteristics conducive to and suitable for working with young children.
Able to maintain a safe environment for children
Knowledge and understanding of the National Association for the Education of
Young Children (NAEYC) best practices.
Knowledge and understanding of early childhood program philosophies and developmentally appropriate practices
Be knowledgeable of the Reggio Emilia Approach, High Scope Curriculum and on- line Child Observation Record (COR)
Such alternatives and exceptions to the above requirements as deemed appropriate for the position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Integrate the goals of the Educational Components by:
Provide a positive and supportive social, emotional climate
Assist Lead Teacher in planning and implementation of curriculum
Regularly collect anecdotal notes to document student progress in all areas of development
Lead small group activities
Serve and monitor student meal times and rest time
Collaborate, plane and attend events (including some evenings) with building and district staff
On site presence required
Other duties as assigned
