Job Description: 

The purpose of this position is to assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing social and leisure time activity programs in accordance with Fellowship Square policies and procedures, to assure that the recreational, educational and social needs of the residents are met. This person must bring a special combination of energy, enthusiasm, positive motivation and self-direction to the job. They must possess superior service orientation and be dedicated to seeing that resident’s needs are met.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions

Responsibilities

  • Understands the social, intellectual, and psychological needs of seniors 62 and above.
  • Must communicate effectively with the residents; have good listening and verbal skills.
  • Must have experience working with seniors - ages 62 years and older.
  • Should be a self-starter and facilitate activities on their own.
  • Ability to work with the Activity Director direct to:
  • Develop/maintain large and small fitness group activities.
  • Seek/research creative ideas to keep interests of residents.
  • Encourage resident leadership and participation.
  • Train and supervise volunteers as needed.
  • Create flyers for activities and special events.
  • Create sign-up sheets for transportation and events.
  • Upload information to our in-house channel.
  • Shop for activity needs.
  • Maintain the activity office in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Monitors planned activities and space to insure proper utilization of time, equipment and space.
  • Set-up and break down tables and chairs in preparation for scheduled activities or events.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies for department use.
  • Assists as directed with holiday celebrations and special events.
  • Reports unsafe/hazardous equipment and conditions immediately.
  • Assures that safety regulations are observed at all times.
  • Maintains records and reports as deemed necessary.
  • 13. May be asked to drive company vehicles for job related activities

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with seniors.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

    English is the primary language for this position. The individual for this position must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. She/he must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and the ability to speak effectively before groups or residents, family members or employees or organizations.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    The individual for this position must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. She/he should have the ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    The individual for this position must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry our instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 

    OTHER SKILLS, DUTIES AND ABILITIES

  • Plan and implement activities on campus during weekdays and weekends.
  • Notify residents of activities and encourage them to attend.
  • Plan community programs, parties and other celebrations.
  • Work well as a team member.
  • Communicate any concerns to Activity Director/ Residential Administrator in a timely manner.
  • Set-up and break down tables and chairs in preparation for scheduled activities or events.

  • Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday from 8:30am to 4pm
