FeedNC is Hiring a Summer Camp Instructor (Seasonal) Near Mooresville, NC

Position Summary: FeedNC is seeking a motivated and energetic individual to assist with leading FeedNC’s Building Healthy Habits Summer [BHH] program for ages 7-11. BHH is designed to educate and inspire children on the importance of building and maintaining healthy habits. This individual will teach a variety of lessons that focus on nutrition, physical activity, mindfulness, and personal hygiene.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead daily instructional sessions with an established curriculum
  • Ensure that all participants are actively engaged in the lesson
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere
  • Organize and prepare lesson materials before the start of each day
  • Participate in creative age-appropriate practices to reinforce key concepts
  • Incorporate evidence-based teaching techniques
  • Oversee the well-being and safety of participants during pick-up, drop-off, and daily activities
  • Continually assess participants’ progress toward their goals
  • Assist with classroom cleanup at the end of each day
  • Provide individualized attention and support to participants who need additional guidance for understanding and implementing healthy habits
  • Maintain frequent communication with the families of participants, specifically ensuring that children are meeting their goals at home and by providing regular camp updates
  • Collaborate with FeedNC staff members, interns, and volunteers to ensure that the program is running smoothly
  • Participate in meetings to ensure that the program is aligning with FeedNC’s mission and goals.
  • Prioritize timeliness as they guide students between their daily activities
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in a field related to education or child development
  • 1 years of experience teaching in a classroom or summer camp setting, ideally with youth in elementary or middle school
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with children ages 7-11 in a positive, person-centered manner
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as an individual and as an effective team player
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understand and abide by FeedNC’s core mission, vision, and spirit. This includes, but is not limited to supporting families with dignity and providing educational opportunities as a catalyst for change.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand continuously for 4 hours
  • Must be able to move around the room to interact with youth
  • The program will primarily be held inside, but instructors will be outside for 1 hour every day

Location: FeedNC, 2456 Charlotte HWY, Mooresville NC

Position Type: Seasonal (May 28th through August 1st)

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. May 28th through August 1st, 2024.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $1,750.00 per month
