Overview of position:

FEDITC is seeking a Journeyman Cloud Systems Engineer to work at MacDill AFB, FL. A United States Citizenship and an active TS/SCI DoD Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
  • Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
  • Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
  • Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
  • Broad understanding of different aspects of IT, including hardware, software, networking, and security.

Qualifications


Experience/Skills:

A Journeyman Cloud Systems Engineer in the Department of Defense (DoD), will be expected to have a solid understanding of the following skills:

  1. Cloud Computing: Extensive knowledge of cloud computing and experience working with cloud-based platforms, such as Azure or AWS.
  2. Virtualization: Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware, and knowledge of virtualization management tools and techniques.
  3. Networking: Strong understanding of networking concepts, including routing, switching, and network security.
  4. Storage: Knowledge of storage technologies, including SAN and NAS, and experience working with storage management tools.
  5. Security: Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing secure solutions, including knowledge of security protocols, authentication, and authorization.
  6. Operating Systems: Knowledge of operating systems, including Windows and Linux, and experience working with server and desktop operating systems.
  7. Project Management: Ability to manage projects and lead teams, including experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
  8. Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including technical and non-technical staff.
  9. DoD regulations and policies: Familiarity with DoD regulations, policies, and procedures related to information technology, security, and privacy
  • In addition to these technical skills, the engineer should also have experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
  • The administrator should also have experience with IT service management practices and a deep understanding of security and risk management. Familiarity with government and industry standards, such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA, is also desirable working in the Department of Defense.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

Clearance:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen and pass a background check.
  • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC’S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).
