FedEx Services is Hiring a Category Management Expert - Aircraft Component Repair and Overhaul Near Seattle, WA

Position Overview:

  • Works with colleagues across functions of the FedEx Airline to develop and recommend category strategies and sourcing strategies for aircraft component repair and overhaul services.
  • Uses deep knowledge of the supplier market for aircraft component repair and overhaul to deliver value and find opportunities for the FedEx Airline.
  • Partner with colleagues to manage RFIs RFPs and analyze supplier responses for aircraft component repair and overhaul services.
  • Provide category management expertise, sourcing best practices, leverage industry knowledge (about aircraft component repair and overhaul services) and market analysis to identify and deliver on savings/improvement opportunities for the FedEx airline
  • Challenge traditional ways of working throughout process
  • Identify potential cost-savings opportunities using Total Cost of Ownership approach
Job Description Summary:
  • Reviews and advises a Sourcing team on the development and execution of holistic, enterprise-wide category management strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, diversity, and risk management initiatives. Leads and guides the team through the strategic sourcing process, utilizing the FedEx sourcing methodology to develop a world-class supply chain.
  • Uses data science principles to examine complex datasets and deliver recommendations based on sound logic and evidence.
  • Establishes supplier scorecard criteria and monitors supplier performance.
  • Effectively identifies, manages, and monitors risk.
  • Works on multiple complex assignments concurrently.
  • Leads and manages cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Develops, mentors, and empowers less experienced team members in effective category management.
  • Effectively interacts with executives on a routine basis.
  • Acts with senior-level authority with suppliers, business stakeholders, Finance, and Legal.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in supply chain, business, finance, mathematics or other quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years work experience in strategic sourcing and/or category management. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical decision making skills.
  • Superior demonstrated skills with current technology tools/advances and database/analytical tools.
  • Proven negotiating skills and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience Considered a Plus:
  • MBA or related master’s degree (e.g. in an aviation-related field) would be a plus
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Aviation Management would be a plus
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification desired
  • Professional exempt experience in category management, or contract / supplier management
  • Experience in airlines and the aviation industry, and knowledge of the supplier landscape for aircraft parts and overhaul
  • Experience delivering value within a category through their knowledge of the supplier market and understanding of the aircraft parts value chain
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing data and formulate recommendation in support of strategic sourcing and category strategy.
  • Proven competence in project management, proficiency in the use of business computer software programs, e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, SAS, SharePoint, Microsoft Power BI.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and communications skills.
Work/Domicile Location(s):
  • The desired location for this position is Memphis, Tennessee; Dallas, Texas or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; however the position may be hybrid in Plano (Dallas), Texas; Collierville (Memphis), Tennessee; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Atlanta, Georgia; Seattle, Washington or Chicago, Illinois and candidates must live within a reasonable commutable distance. This position is hybrid, meaning that employees must be onsite as directed by leadership but team members are allowed flexibility to work from home otherwise.

Salary Range Estimate: Monthly Salary: $8,929.00 - $11,447.00. This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, your work location, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
