Federations of Organizations is seeking a Full-Time Peer Counselor to provide services at the residential dept.

REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Residential Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

Personal or shared experience with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. Ability and desire to assist others in mastery of independent living skills and the personal recovery process . Understanding of peer support, self-help philosophy. Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License. Fingerprinting, criminal record check, approval from NYS Office of Mental Health.

JOB FUNCTION:

To provide a positive role model of community functioning, informal counseling, peer support and ADL training in a licensed residential program providing transitional housing to people with psychiatric disabilities.
