Operational Specialist: Federal Way Custom Jewelers

Job Description:

FWCJ is seeking a motivated operations employee who can become an integral member of our team, by supporting our brick & mortar sales staff in their day-to-day business, assisting with ecommerce clients and order fulfillment, and assisting the Operations Manager with project management tasks.

The right candidate will be outgoing, professional, curious, and self-motivated, in addition to enjoying customer service and the jewelry industry. Salary and benefits are negotiable based on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate excellent customer service experiences for in-store clients: greeting clients when sales staff are busy, assisting clients when sales staff are otherwise occupied, calling/texting clients when projects are complete, helping maintain clean & professional sales floor environment.
• Ecommerce order fulfillment: coordinate invoicing, payment, services, and shipping of ecommerce orders and custom orders placed remotely.
• Assist Sales staff with tasks as directed; including but not limited to cleaning jewelry, writing up sales, collecting payments, boxing/wrapping gifts, placing wholesale product orders, managing incoming jobs & supplies.
• Assist Operations staff with project management tasks. Including but not limited to: placing wholesale orders, managing inventory, and preparing for sale events, uploading content on ecommerce site.
• Assist Digital Media Manager as directed, including but not limited to: social media content planning & creation, photo & video tasks, strategy planning.

Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills & professional phone/email etiquette.
• Self-motivated with ability to perform in less-structured work environments.
• Comfortable using computers & smart phones, including strong social media experience (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube).
• Ability to work minimum 30 hours per week, maximum 48 hours per week, including Saturdays (days off will be Sunday & Monday).
• GIA Graduate Gemologist (GG) or Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP) certification or additional post-high school education are a bonus but NOT required of this position.
• Experience in the jewelry or gemstone industry, and in customer service roles, is preferred but NOT required of this position.

Federal Way Custom Jewelers (AKA FWC Jewelers) founded 1955, is a three-generation family business serving the people of South King County, WA via our brick-and-mortar store and a global clientele via our website, www.fwcj.com. We are served by a team of four full-time employees and three part-time employees in this location, with additional staff at our off-site goldsmithing facilities.

As a single location destination retailer, we focus on providing our clients with fine jewelry that is different from other jewelers. We are known for our custom designs, which we feature in our cases but which we also offer on a special-order basis to our customers. We directly source fine diamonds, precious gems, and rare collectible gemstones which become the focal points of these creations. In addition to our custom work, we keep a wide range of traditional jewelry gifts as well as a curated collection of antique & estate jewelry for our clients to choose from. We also offer our clients the full suite of jewelry services, including jewelry repair, ring sizing, watch repair, expert appraisals, and jewelry advising services for those looking to sell their jewels.
