Federal Signal has an opening for a Director, National Sales. As the Director, National Sales, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and executing the sales strategy, driving revenue growth, expanding market share, liaising with our distribution partners, and enhancing our brand presence. You will lead a talented team of sales professionals, develop and execute strategic initiatives, and work closely with the executive team to achieve business objectives. In this role, you will lead all sales activities for the Police/Fire segment of the Public Safety Systems division at Federal Signal and will have overall responsibility for the sales budget, sales targets, and commission plans.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets as set forth in the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Lead, coach, measure, and develop Sales Team to execute strategic sales strategies.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual Sales Quota and Commission Plans that drive profitable growth, competitiveness, and retention of talent.
  • Analyze sales and marketing data to develop sales strategies and initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales Management Team to develop sales funnel and forecast projections for new business.
  • Manage distribution and direct sales channel management.
  • Focus on establishing a presence internationally to promote sales.
  • Responsible for the overall management and communication of the CRM tool.
  • Develop federal, state, and local contracts in coordination with sales management team.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual sales results to executive leadership team.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide necessary training to sales team to ensure they have the tools necessary to perform effectively within their respective territories.
  • Attend tradeshows and sales meetings to gather information from sales and customers that will translate into revenue generation.
  • Build and maintain long-lasting, strong relationships with customers while partnering with them to better understand their business objectives and needs.
  • Assist marketing, product management, customer support, and service in solving customer issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • 10 years of sales experience, 5 years of management experience
  • Must have technical selling experience with proven leadership of large regional or national sales organizations
  • Proven execution, process, and improvement orientation
  • Strategic problem solver, able to anticipate market trends and implement initiatives to impact sales performance and results
  • Preference given to those who have worked in the public safety industry
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills
  • Strong communication, storytelling and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team to meet quotas
  • Results oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Deep understanding of CRM systems and best practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
