Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is Hiring a CRIME ANALYST Near Quantico, VA

Position: Crime Analyst, GS-0301-11/12

Division: CIRG

Unit: Behavioral Analysis Unit 3

Location: Quantico, VA. (No public transportation)

Working Hours: 8:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Salary: GS-11 $78,592.00 - $102,166.00

GS-12 $94,199.00 - $122,459.00

Full Performance Level: GS-13

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Additional selections may be made from this announcement to fill positions within the same division when the position includes substantially the same duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.

Key Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance
  • Some travel required
  • This position involves the analysis of violent and/or sexually-motivated crimes committed against children. Applicants should understand this position includes the viewing of disturbing or violent content.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties:

  • Provide operational and analytical support for all crimes against children matters.
  • Conduct several related studies, research, or segments of major crime analyses relating to violent crime and apply the knowledge to operational work.
  • Interpret and synthesize information on crimes against children matters and present results to others
  • Compiles information and prepares products on a continuous basis as it relates to the demands of the unit.
  • Conduct analysis of complex crime reports, computerized data, etc. to identify crime patterns, trends, and case linkages.


Qualifications and Evaluations

Your resume and supporting documentation will be used to determine whether you meet the job qualifications listed in this announcement and will be compared to your responses to the online assessment questionnaire. Your application will then be placed in one of three categories: Most Competitive, Competitive, or Least Competitive. Names of candidates in the Most Competitive category will be sent to the hiring official for employment consideration. Veterans’ preference will be applied.

Specialized Experience (SE):

GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Experience in utilizing various databases to include: Microsoft Office, and Internet-based analytical programs.
  • Experiencing working in a group/team environment.
  • Experiencing communicating both in writing and orally using complex information.

GS-12:
In addition to the above experiences, applicant must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE in addition to the above is defined below:

  • Experience producing analytical products.
  • Experience evaluating and resolving complex problems relating to data collection and crime analysis techniques.


Desired Skills

Desired skills are NOT mandatory and will NOT be utilized to minimally qualify applicants.

Desired Skills are:

  • At least one year of experience in two or more of the following areas:
  • Providing analytical support to criminal investigations involving crimes against children
  • Providing analytical support to criminal investigations involving violent crimes or sexually-motivated crimes
  • Conducting, participating in, or assisting with academic research involving crimes against children, violent crime, or sexually-motivated crimes
  • Conducting, participating in, or assisting with academic research involving behavioral science, cognition/memory, or mental health and personality disorders
  • Working with Child Protective Services, social services, or victims of violent crimes
  • Experience in forensic interviewing of child victims and witnesses

Education

All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
