**Duties**

** Summary**

***Due to the Pandemic, and individual states with different phases of reopening, the selectees report date to the official duty station/facility may be delayed until such time as employees are allowed to report to the workplace. The person selected may telework up to the maximum extent possible, up to and including full time, until it is safe to relocate.***

**Responsibilities**

Serve as the Airway Transportation System Specialist (ATSS), with the Technical Support Operations Group.

Maintain safe and efficient operating capacity of the vast and complex network of electronic systems required for the world's largest air traffic control and navigation system.

Install, evaluate, maintain, modify and certify facilities, services and equipment that support the National Airspace System (NAS).

Responsible for various auxiliary duties that contribute to providing reliable and safe FAA service to the flying public.

Responsible for integration, restoration, testing and evaluation of new advanced services or service components, hardware/software systems and processes.

Apply comprehensive technical knowledge to protect the integrity of all components and systems to provide NAS service delivery

Has broad automated systems and networking responsibilities and is recognized as a principal technical specialist on legacy and newly developed systems within a large facility or multiple facilities over a large geographical area.

Provide technical support to include analyze, design, develop, install, repair, fabricate, maintain, modify, or evaluate complex systems.

Resolve unique technical problems without managerial intervention.

Evaluate diagnostic data from multiple systems integrated to support a network of services or service products in order to correct deficiencies on Contractor Acceptance Inspection/Joint Acceptance Inspection, and timely resolution of equipment, system or service with the NAS.

Develop recommendations for enhancing efficiency of systems by modification and application of existing or emerging technology.

Integrate Operational Risk Management (ORM) into all planned activities ensuring all customers and users of services are included and involved in implementation and planning.

Duties may include climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, walking up several flights of stairs, working on elevated surfaces, and/or working in/out door environments.

Work assignments can be physical and strenuous in nature. Work assignments may require a flexible work schedule, i.e. nights, weekends, variables start/stop times. **Travel Required**

FAA employee may remain in current Duty Location within the Kansas City District. ** Qualifications**

There is no time frame requirement at the Level III/FV-H to compete. Candidates must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position to include Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following system(s) and service: 1) NAVAIDS: Instrumental Landing Systems (ILS), 2.) Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), 3.) Glide slope (GS), 4.) Locator Outer Marker (LOM), 5.) Localizer (LOC), 6.) Very High Frequency

Generally, experience at the next lower level Pay Band H/level III or FG/GS-12 or equivalent, meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the demonstrated abilities.

Eligible applicants meeting the minimum qualification requirements may be further evaluated on the Demonstrated Abilities listed in the announcement. Based on this evaluation, applicants will be placed in one of the following categories: score order, category grouping, or alphabetical and referred to the selecting official for consideration.
