The Site Reliability Engineer II implements reliable infrastructure solutions according to the strategic direction of the team. They enable efficient delivery of value to our customers through effective infrastructure and fast pipelines, empowering application developers to deliver at the speed desired for the project. The Site Reliability Engineer II also supports operations of the production environments including observability and troubleshooting issues (sometimes outside of normal business hours if mandated by the contract).

Responsibilities and Contributions

  • implements infrastructure and pipeline solutions with minimal direction in accordance with the project/organization technical standards.
  • Resolves technical issues in software infrastructure like software-defined networks, databases, and compute resources.
  • Advises the team on specific implementation options that meet business requirements.
  • Designs and automates log collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Automates security processes and vulnerability remediation.
  • Contributes actively in team Agile processes through discussion and/or preparation.
  • Manages the security posture of the system and helps maintain compliance with government regulations.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies

Must-Have Skills

  • Experience with implementing cloud infrastructure on AWS/Azure/GCP.
  • Experience with Linux, especially RHEL family, and Bash scripting.
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, etc).
  • Experience supporting scalable and elastic applications on distributed architectures.
  • Strong ability and understanding of securing systems on the application, network, and infrastructure layers.
  • Experience managing network/compute/database infrastructure with infrastructure-as-code.
  • Proficient in infrastructure management process and tools like Terraform and AWS Cloudformation.
  • Experience with server configuration processes and tools such as Chef, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Expert in basic git actions like cloning, creating branches, navigating between branches, staging code for commit, committing code, resetting, and merging.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
  • Understanding of interfacing with external APIs (REST, JSON, Auth Tokens).
  • Ability to operate and manage work, strategically reason, and build relationships and influence others.

Icing-on-the-Cake Skills

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technology-related degree.
  • Experience working with government or large industry clients.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure Government Cloud (MAG).
  • Ability to use and maintain container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or Openshift.
  • Understanding of Agile principles.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language and web applications framework such as Node.js/Express, Python/Django, Go, Java 8 /Spring, Ruby/Rails, etc.
  • Ability to manage, scale, and secure persistent data stores like databases (relational and document-oriented) and file stores (e.g. AWS EFS, AWS S3).
  • Holds a current AWS Certified Developer Associate, Solutions Architecture Associate, or Solutions Architect Professional or similar certification in another cloud platform.
  • Proficiency with advanced Git actions like rebasing, squashing, and cherry-picking.

TheScrum Master II works directly with an agile team to advise and oversee performance against agile values, practices, and processes. As a servant leader, theScrum Master II monitors team performance through the project's dashboards and helps identify continuous improvement opportunities to help the team work better and smarter. Working with the Product Owner, the Scrum Master II supports the work of the team by monitoring the backlog and facilitating agile ceremonies such as stand ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives.

TheScrum Master II collaborates regularly with the Portfolio Director and/or Program Manager for the project to help prioritize and implement quality agile process initiatives and surface reporting across the business about the status and quality of engineering projects.

  • Removes project obstacles and develops solutions with the team.
  • Provides guidance to the team and customer organization on how to use agile/Scrum practices and values.
  • Provides guidance to the team on how to self-organize.
  • Coaches the team, filling in any gaps in knowledge of agile/Scrum frameworks and processes.

They develop design governance, workflows, and taxonomies. They lead and implement solutions for operationalizing content strategy across complex products and services. They advise, mentor, and coach junior Designers, Strategists, Customers, and other team members on best practices and implementation. They specialize in ensuring that business requirements, content authoring and workflow, and implementation decisions come together in a usable, useful system. They oversee content requirements and create content strategy deliverables throughout a project's life cycle.

Our salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location and provide team members salary growth within a salary grade over time. Team members automatically progress within a salary range through annual increases (given to reward service at Fearless) or merit increases (given to reward and individual's demonstrated performance and growth within the position). Fearless team members are also eligible for discretionary bonuses based on company performance.

The salary ranges for this position based on location are listed below. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified as a part of our annual salary range review.

  • AL, FL, GA, TN Residents: $90,015 (min) - $117,019 (mid) - $144,024 (max)
  • NC Residents: $92,799 (min) - $120,639 (mid) - $148,478 (max)
  • DE, MD, PA, TX, VA Residents: $97,439 (min) - $126,671 (mid) - $155,902 (max)
  • DC Residents: $109,503 (min) - $142.354 (mid) - $175,204 (max)
  • CA & NY Residents: $113,215 (min) - $147,179 (mid) - $181,143 (max)

Within the range, starting pay for team members is based on the evaluation of the alignment with the position description requirements including job-related skills and experience or training. This range reflects your earning potential over the course of your career at Fearless in this position.
