Summary: 
The City of Fort Collins’ Financial Services team is seekingan intern to support the organization during the summer of 2024. Ideally, the position will start in May andcontinue through August. The selectedcandidate can expect to work up to 40 hours per week, depending on scope andrequirements of specific job assignments. Hours can be flexible and there ispotential for remote-based work. This role will give the candidate an exposureto the full spectrum of municipal finance functions: accounting, budgeting, safety and riskmanagement, purchasing, sales tax, financial planning & analysis, treasury,grants administration and philanthropic services. Additionally, the candidate may have theopportunity to interface with the city’s other service areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern can expect to contribute towards 2 or 3 projectsfrom departments within Financial Services. Assignments will be tailored basedon the prioritized needs of the organization, as well as the specificbackground, experience and development objectives of the selected candidate. Participation may be as an individualcontributor, team-member or even project lead (for certain project segments). Projects will be drawn from service areapriority work items and could include assignments related to:
-KPI’s and Metrics measurements
-Insurance and Risk Management modeling
-Monthly Financial Reporting
-Long Term Capital Planning and prioritization
-Budgeting For Outcomes (BFO) analytical support
-Departmental process improvement initiatives
The candidate can expect a variety of work environmentsincluding individual research and analysis, meetings and team collaborationsessions, attendance and/or participation at service area meetings, and Citycouncil or committee meetings. This mayinclude some after-hours / evening work sessions.
