Position Type: Special Education/CERT - 4095 - EXCEPTIONAL CHILD INSTRUCTOR Date Posted: 4/15/2024 Location: SQUIRES ELEMENTARY Date Available: School Year 24-25 Closing Date: 04/25/2024 Description: Helping students to be successful in the Highly Structured program in order to allow them to mainstream back into the general education classes. Provide a strong classroom management program and structure to increase student academic achievement by decreasing behavior concerns. Maintain a positive, flexible outlook while developing specific instructional strategies, behavior management plans, and academic programs for students with behavioral and emotional disabilities. Participate in Admission and Release Committee meetings for students in the Highly Structured Special Education Classroom.
Job Summary:
Designs and implements an instructional program to meet the academic and behavioral needs of 6-8 students
Monitors academic and behavioral goals for each student and keep current records regarding the students' progress on leveling systems and entry/exit criteria for program
Plans and implements instructional programming, curriculum implementation, accommodations and extensions to increase access to and participation in the general education curriculum and program of studies, and material selection for students with disabilities
Implements federal and state regulations and district policies and procedures relative to identification and service delivery of students with disabilities
Keep abreast of research, trends in motivation, instructional materials and equipment, methodology, professional literature and other important aspects related to educating students with disabilities
Collaborates with general education teachers to coordinate transition opportunities for students to begin mainstreaming once they have reached that level on the leveling system
Participates in on-going professional development activities for special education and general education staff
Keeps a current inventory of materials, equipment, and needed repairs
Maintains regular attendance
Performs other duties as assigned

Support from school psychologist with behavior background
Support from site schools' administration and resources
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
A strong knowledge base is needed in special education curriculum and instruction; ability to budge and use time efficiently, and ability to work with and relate well to others.
Kentucky Teaching Certificate in an area of Special Education.
