Role Summary
- We are looking for high-performing development and validation engineers with engine, transmission, and drive unit experience.
- Responsibilities include planning, developing, and executing subsystem level tests in a world class testing and development facility.
- Tasks also include data analysis, calibration development, identifying opportunities for data reduction, and leading the migration of lab-based activities to math.
- This is an assignment where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is crucial.
- Follow development and validation hardware through readiness process - support setup and debugging to assure test readiness
- Track and report on testing progress and issues
- Develop and implement first-time capable tests for hardware development and validation
- Lead diagnosis and resolution of issues that occur during setup and testing
- Interact with facilities, technical leads, calibration teams, hardware release engineers, and others to improve process and test efficiency
- Utilize post processing tools to assure data quality and track usefulness of data in generation of final reports
- Implement standard work processes and procedures globally
- Support math-based activities, migrating additional work from Road and Lab to Math (RLM) based models and data analysis
- Train, mentor, and develop new engineers
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics
- Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive engineering with engine, transmission, or drive unit knowledge
- Demonstrated drive for results
- Excellent planning and problem-solving skills
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationships.
- Ability to prioritize work and resources, and work independently with minimal direction
- Proficient with computer and data acquisition systems
- Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results
- Ability to travel as required for offsite testing (less than 15%)
- Experience with AVL PUMA/IndiCom and ETAS INCA software
- Exposure to propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environment
- 2-5 years of experience with engine, transmission, or drive unit testing, calibration, or hardware development
- Experience with engine dyno setup and testing
- Experience with Diesel engine function, architecture and subsystems
- at least 2-4 years
- Homerun candidate would be someone who has fuel injector experience, previously worked with injectors
- Familiarity with hardware test bench, setup, and operation
- Familiarity with working in a lab environment (e.g. safety, instrumentation, troubleshooting)
- Familiarity with data post processing (e.g. data review, identify good vs. bad data, presenting results effectively)
