Job Description

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate eager to help leading companies and governments transition to a low carbon, sustainable future by collecting, analyzing and delivering the data and insights that our clients need to navigate this change.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced candidate who will be responsible for the collection, analysis and delivery of battery raw materials data and forecasts. Your efforts will make a real difference in helping Fastmarkets to achieve its ambitious growth plans and grow the Renewable Energy practice. 

 The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and innovative environment, have a can-do attitude, advice and can juggle a wide variety of tasks and projects. 

Principal Accountabilities

To support forecasts of battery raw materials: 

  • Contribute to the collection and production of data on the mining and refining of battery raw materials - BRMs (including lithium, cobalt, manganese, graphite and nickel) for the US and Americas for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage systems (ESS) manufacturing
  • Collect and analyze BRM demand data for the US and Americas by region, production facility, process and end-use 
  • Analyze and report on the impact of US policy and regulations (such as the Inflation Reduction Act) on domestic and global BRM value chains and EV markets 
  • Collect and report on global and domestic macro and micro economic data and fiscal policy that impacts forecasts for BRMs, such as GDP, inflation, interest rates, import/export tariffs/duties, inventories, and sales, etc. 
  • Prepare, calculate, maintain and update short-term, medium-term and long-term forecast models in partnership with colleagues 
  • Showcase Fastmarkets BRM analysis and data with clients and prospects in the Americas 
  • Grow Fastmarkets network across the batteries value chain in the Americas region 

To provide support for external and internal users of Fastmarkets’ forecasts of battery production capacity: 

  • Assist the forecast and analytics team with content for subscription and consulting projects 
  • Support the product team’s development of forecast products
  • Data contributions for presentations at industry events and forums, particularly those targeting the Americas region 
  • Engagement with clients

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

  • Strong data identification and acquisition expertise conducted via primary and secondary research
  • Experience with foundational analytical skills: modelling, statistics and managing data 
  • Forecast model development 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft, data analysis and forecast modeling applications
  • 2-4 years of relevant data collection, analysis and forecasting experience, including internship(s) 
  • Preference for previous experience in battery, battery raw materials and/or industrial manufacturing
