Foundry Day Shift Supervisor Located in Norwich, KS


Reporting Relationships

Position Reports to:Norwich Foundry SuperintendentPositions Supervised: All day shift hourly employees – Leads and shift leads.Job OverviewAs a Foundry Day Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations within the foundry department. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality metal castings while managing a team of foundry workers. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to maintain a productive and collaborative work environment.Key Responsibilities1. Production Management:
  • Supervise and coordinate all activities related to metal casting within the foundry.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.
  • Ensure that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
2. Team Leadership:
  • Hire, lead, motivate and mentor a team of foundry workers, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Provide training and guidance to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance issues in a timely and constructive manner.
3. Safety and Compliance
  • Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to foundry operations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
4. Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within the foundry.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement improvements in equipment, processes, and workflow.
  • Foster culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback and innovative ideas from team members.
5. Quality Assurance:
  • Monitor and enforce quality control measures to meet or exceed customer specifications.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure consistent and reliable production outcomes.
  • Investigate and address any quality issues promptly, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
6. Communication:
  • Liaise with other departments, such as engineering, maintenance, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination of activities.
  • Communicate production goals, expectations, and updates to the team and upper management.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss performance, goals and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements 
  • Proven experience in foundry operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of casting processes, and foundry equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and quality management systems.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, make decisions, and manage priorities effectively.
