Interact with each customer in a friendly, professional and timely manner. Receive and disburse money in establishments other than financial institutions. May use electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment. May process credit or debit card transactions and validate checks.

Education and Experience

Work Setting

Tasks

• Scan customer purchases into POS system, ensuring each item is entered separately and accurately.

• Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.

• Identify customer complaints and take necessary steps to resolve; including asking for assistance from other departments.

• Answer customers' questions, and provide information on procedures or policies.

• Help customers find the location of products.

• Issue receipts and change to customers.

• Greet customers entering and exiting the establishment.

• Assist customers by providing information and resolving their complaints.

• Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties, such as sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, replenishing stock and emptying trash cans.

• Assist with duties in other areas of the store, such as monitoring fitting rooms or bagging and carrying out customers' items.
