Position Overview:

This position markets and sells Compeer Financials insurance products to clients and prospective clients and generate new business in agricultural risk services with new and existing clients while building strong relationships with clients and prospects. Collaborates with the team and provides insurance expertise throughout the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Market insurance products and expertise, by building relationships with clients, prospects and influencers which lead to new business and referrals.
  • Maintain client relationships through frequent interactions and periodic sales calls.
  • Maintain prospect files, establish ongoing prospecting plans and activities, and meet sales goals for Compeer’s insurance business.
  • Work to achieve the objectives set by the team for new business development within the designated marketplace.
  • Complete required documentation including applications, production reports, acreage reporting and claims for clients.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of crop insurance products available through Compeer Financial and all related FCS eligibility regulations.
  • Remain current on product details and program changes.
  • Agricultural business resource to clients, build on industry knowledge, including the areas of soil/crop management, fertilizers, seed hybrids, farm implements, new farm technology, animal husbandry and other specific agricultural basic knowledge pertinent to the geographical region or territory.
  • Effectively communicate risk management strategies that can be achieved through products to meet client needs.

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills an d Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, agriculture or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Minimum experience required is based upon size, scope and complexity of the position.
  • Current state insurance license to sell crop insurance or willing to obtain.
  • Willing to learn or have general knowledge of crop insurance programs and information, grain marketing, finance and macroeconomics.
  • General knowledge of farm production methods, farm products, and farm business management preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willing to learn or have effective negotiating and selling skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external clients.
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange informati on effectively with peers, clients and leadership.
  • Ability to protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the organization’s brand.
