What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the preparation of internal and statutory financial monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for companies, including the preparation and balancing of key financial components. Including statistical information, reinsurance activities, pooling and balancing the final loss and lae incurred results to the general ledger.
  • Participate in the gathering of data and preparation of external audit reports and Board of Directors presentations. Respond to information requests from the internal and external auditors.
  • Prepare and file unclaimed property records to state regulatory bodies, which includes the handling of the communication with various business units.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to the property/casualty insurance companies and review reconciliations prepared by accounting clerks.
  • Research and resolve day-to-day out-of-balance or departmental processing problems.
  • Create reports and workpapers to support other reconciliation routines that result from changes in the insurance companies’ operations.
  • Assist in the training of accounting clerks.

What It Takes to Join Our Team:

  • College degree (Accounting) or equivalent required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel spreadsheets required.
  • Ability and willingness to train other accounting clerks and assistants.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines needed.
  • Effective prioritization, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work from our office in Manhattan, Kansas.
