SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Canning Technician is to operate can making equipment including the depalletizer, depalletizer/palletizer, can conveyor systems, lid feeder, slitter, welder, body former, uniformer, leak detector and can detection systems. Monitor the processes of the canning systems so that product quality is guaranteed and package integrity is assured. Participate as a Team Member of their assigned Business Unit. Direction is provided by the Shift Manager who coordinates the activities of Team members involved in can making of product for their assigned Business Unit. The Business Unit goals are consistent with company goals and business unit Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to include safety, quality, productivity and customer service.

The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The operator will be exposed to wet and humid conditions and have to work with cleaning chemicals, toxic chemicals, and some dust in the atmosphere. The noise level in the work environment has been measured at 85 decibels and hearing protection must be worn. Working in close proximity with moving forklift trucks is required.
