SALARY & BENEFITS:
$24.82 - $33.05 per hour. Complete package of fringe benefits including Vacation and Sick Leave, Health Insurance, 17 paid Holidays, and CalPERS Retirement. Travel allowance for field work.
JOB SYNOPSIS & QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Public Information Officer is responsible for implementation of the Center’s public information and community relations activities. This includes the effective coordination and development of informational materials, community outreach, special events, fund development, electronic messaging, managing social media websites, and various special projects. Ability to develop written materials such as brochures, newsletters, press releases, and other general information. Communicates with community agencies, media, and the public. The position requires knowledge of communication and media formats as well as travel within the nine-county service area including Shasta, Butte, Tehama, Modoc, Trinity, Lassen, Plumas, Glenn and Siskiyou counties. Requires equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a closely related field, and a minimum of two years relevant experience in Communications, Public Relations and managing Social Media sites. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Expert knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook/Meta, X/Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube is required. Ability to work with publishing software such as MS Publisher and the Adobe Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and similar software. Knowledge of word press would be a plus.
