Job Title: Ultrasound Technician or Sonographs
Job Summary:
The Indian Health Service (IHS)/Albuquerque Area Office (AAO), Albuquerque Service Unit (ASU) has a requirement for two (2) Ultrasound Technicians or Sonographers to provide Diagnostic Imaging services at the Albuquerque Indian Health Clinic (AIHC) located in Albuquerque, NM, starting August 01, 2023, through July 31, 2024. These dates are tentative.

POP Begin: 08/01/2023.

POP End: 07/31/2024.
The shifts are as follows: 8 hours – usually 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, except all Federal Holidays.Place of performance:
Services to be performed at the following Albuquerque Service Unit Indian Health Service Facilities:

Albuquerque Service Unit, including:

Albuquerque Indian Health Center

Albuquerque, NM 87106

And, if needed:

  • Santa Ana Health Center Santa Ana Pueblo O2-C Dove Road Bernalillo, NM 87004
  • Zia Health and Dental Clinic 155 Capitol Square Drive Zia Pueblo, NM 87053

The candidate is responsible for the provision of the services as listed below:

  • Candidate shall perform medical imaging exams including ultrasound and x-ray as needed following imaging protocols and in a timely manner.
  • Candidate requires access to network D1, RPMS/EHR, PACS, MAIL, and Scheduling menu.
  • Candidate shall enter images into PACS (picture archiving) and update exam data after each procedure, ensuring data is correct.
  • Candidate shall maintain exam rooms, i.e., clean/ stock room after each patient and notify the Project Manager when supplies are needed.
  • Candidate shall attend mandatory training yearly including computer security, safety, privacy act/ HIPAA, CPR, Child Protection, and infection control. They may also attend job-related non-cost webinars.
  • Candidate shall provide documentation of liability insurance.
  • Candidate shall follow the department and adhere to the policies of the Albuquerque Indian Health Center (AIHC) and Medical Imaging Department behavior standards including dress code policies.
  • Candidate shall report to work from 8 to 4:30 pm with 30 min for lunch and two 15 minutes breaks, one in morning one in afternoon.
  • Candidate shall perform office duties as required by the Program, including registering patients, scheduling exams, answering phones, and filing.
  • Candidate shall call abnormal results to the provider as necessary.
  • Candidate shall be provided with government equipment to perform exams- x-ray & ultrasound machines, computers, phones, printers, fax, and office equipment.
  • Candidate shall submit a quarterly progress report to the Project Manager.

Client Background:

It is possible some of the IHS patients receiving services under this contract may only speak a native language and/or reside on a federally recognized Indian Reservation. The candidate is expected to demonstrate sensitivity to cross-cultural and language difference and can work through interpreters as necessary for non-English speaking patients. Consideration must be given to elderly patients, potentially limited transportation, and home environment facilities.
Qualifications: The candidate shall have current certification in (RDMS) that permits to perform medical imaging exams and shall provide documentation of certification (copies of diplomas and certificates).The candidate must possess and maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration or certification as a Nurse Practitioner of Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. The candidate will be responsible for make sure Heart Association BLS as required.
