Family Services is Hiring a Maintenance Worker Near Salem, NC

Summary:
Summary:
Advocates for and provides quality janitorial and light maintenance inside and outside of the Child Development facilities to ensure a healthy and safe environment for staff, parents, and children served.
Essential Functions:
  • Clean the Head Start/ Early Head Start facilities to include (bathrooms, classrooms, common areas, offices, and staff lounge)
  • Maintains clean and sanitary atmosphere inside and outside; utilizes proper equipment and supplies for maintaining all areas in facilities.
  • Understands and complies with federal, state, and local mandates related to a healthy and safe environment.
  • Responsible for opening and closing and security responds for all facilities.
  • Ensures that buses and service vans are maintained regularly and buses meet federal transportation requirements for transporting children
  • Adheres to protocols and procedures for active supervision.
  • Must adhere to the Code of Conduct policy at all times.
  • Performs such other duties as incumbent upon the position and as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in maintenance, preferably in a child development center
  • Playground safety certification preferred, use of power tools, ladder, etc.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Maintains physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: walking, bending, stretching, lifting, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment.
  • Must be able to maneuver and handle industrial cleaning equipment and lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Able to work flexible/overtime hours, as needed and approved by Supervisor
  • Requires valid driver's license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources.
