Family Service Assoc. of SA is Hiring an Educator I/Parenting & Co - Rural Near Uvalde, TX

The Educator I, Parenting & Community Education, delivers the program model and will plan and implement culturally sensitive and effective in-home and community-based parent, family, and community education services, as directed by service recipients, applicable stakeholders and collaborative partners, while ensuring that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma informed care lens as defined by the agency. The Educator I will plan and implement presentations, coordinate participation in various community health fairs and events. Educator I must be willing to travel for implementation of services to various counties.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that clients have access, as needed, to all five pillars of the social determinants of health with a trauma informed lens through Agency services and/or community partners.
  • Achieve the agency’s direct service productivity standards while successfully carrying, as appropriate, a full complement of classes/clients.
  • Adhere to agency and contractual requirements pertaining to service recipient contact, assessments, educational service plans, pre- and post-testing requirements, evaluation of client progress, service documentation, and timely completion of the educational service plan and follow all case closure requirements.
  • Carry out appropriate agency procedures to obtain consent, explain rights, fees, and maintain record security to ensure that clients’ rights are protected.
  • Implement appropriate modules from the program curriculum/curricula as is determined from the initial assessment and individualized service plan.
  • Effectively utilize software to enter and track deliverables.
  • Consult with supervisor to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with agency certification and procedural requirements.
  • Enroll and complete required training seminars to learn and maintain the educational models that are required by the agency and its stakeholders.
  • Attend agency, program and staff meetings as required.
  • Maintain good relationships with stakeholders (including current and potential clients, community and co-workers), focusing on providing excellent and culturally sensitive customer service and presenting a positive image of the agency in all community and stakeholder interactions.
  • Maintain a working environment which encourages mutual respect, promotes respectful and congenial relationships between employees and is free from all forms of harassment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including presentations to community groups and organizations, in accordance with the agency’s “team” philosophy.

Education/Training/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency with four (4) years experience in social services or education required.
  • Experience in developing and presenting prevention and education workshops or programs is desirable.
  • Experience in understanding cultural differences and is sensitive to the implications of culture for service delivery.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable.
  • Staff will be required to submit proof of their vaccination status or may request to be exempt from vaccination due to a religious and/or medical accommodation.
  • Certificate or license, as applicable, by the appropriate State agency as a qualified practitioner. Must maintain certification in at least one approved educational curricula required by agency stakeholder.
  • State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance.
